''There will be few better partnerships in the League this season'- Keown rhapsodize over Van Dijk-Gomez partnership.

Jurgen Klopp's new look Liverpool has got almost everybody talking as many have strongly affirmed them as City's strongest rival for the Premier League title this season.

Thanks to Klopp and his transfer team with early effort in recruiting top qualities like Fabinho,Becker, Xherdan Shaqiri and most notably the beast Naby Keita to their rank.

The squad is much loaded with Depth but the emergence of young joe in the centre back of this Liverpool team looks spectacular with Arsenal Legend Martin Keown insisting Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez could form ‘a great Premier League partnership’ after their impressive display in the 4-0 win against West Ham.

Jurgen Klopp's men have been phenomenal since the turn of 2018 and on Sunday they started the new Premier League season with a bang.

Goals from Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane double and Daniel Sturridge earned the Reds a comfortable 4-0 win against West Ham and fired them to top of the table.

Both defenders looked assured and comfortable virtually throughout, and Keown reckons the pairing has huge potential.

“I was seriously impressed by the partnership of Joe Gomez and Virgil van Dijk in the centre of Liverpool’s defence,” Arsenal legend Keown replied when asked what caught his eye in the victory against the Hammers.

“There will be few better partnerships in the Premier League this season.

“I have been arguing for some time that Gomez should be playing in that position and against West Ham, he showed why.

“Marko Arnautovic is the sort of player who will cause defenders problems if you don’t get on top of him quickly. Liverpool’s centre-backs swatted him like a fly.”

Keown reckons that Gomez could nail down the starting spot, leapfrogging the injured Dejan Lovren.

“There will be bigger tests to come this season but Gomez and Van Dijk purred around the pitch like a pair of Rolls-Royces,” he enthused.

“On Sunday’s evidence, Dejan Lovren will find it tough to win back his place. These two have the makings of a great Premier League partnership.”
