News Updates

''Real Madrid are of high quality but we're Liverpool'' says Jurgen Klopp ahead of their Final in Kiev.

Liverpool Head Coach Jurgen Klopp has denied any claims that his team are the underdogs ahead of their Champions League final against Real Madrid in kiev as he insists that it all depends on whose desire is bigger that would be crowned Champions in the end.

Klopp team will be hoping to denied the Laliga giants from a record third time Champions as the prepare to rewrite their own history book.

Liverpool have won Europe's premier club competition five times - the last coming in Istanbul on 2005 when they fought back from a 3-0 half-time deficit to beat AC Milan on penalties.

But the Reds face the competition's most successful club with Los Blancos going for a unprecedented thirteenth win and also aiming for a record three Champions League crowns in a row.

The Champions League's record goalscorer Cristiano Ronaldo is going for a record fifth winners' medal - four with Real Madrid, while no Liverpool has won it.

Klopp said: “Yes they are favourites, they know everything, they can write their own scripts because they have [now] dit four times in the last five years,”

“There have been three dominant clubs in the last few years, and we are facing one of them. I have no problem with the situation and I don’t feel like an underdog. Liverpool were absolutely not favourites in 2005, and that was before they went 3-0 down.”

“To be honest, we like the role we are in. We like the situation and we are in a good moment. Real Madrid are a side of the highest quality going for three wins in three years, but we are Liverpool. That’s something not to forget."

The German believes that it could come down to who is hungrier on the day and is confident that his players can at least match the Spanish giants in that regard.

He added: "In the end it will be a test of whose desire is bigger. Real have almost exactly the same line-up from winning it before, and that's really rare.

"They will want to do it again, but we will try to stop them. In a final, thank God, everything is possible."
