Jurgen Klopp believes his Liverpool team are ready to take off even though he needed Simon Mignolet’s penalty save to rescue a point at Leicester last night.
Klopp emerged from a week that has seen him coming under pressure to grab a 3-2 win thanks to goals by Mo Salah, Philippe Coutinho and Jordan Henderson.
And he insisted: “We really think we are on a good way although we are absolutely aware that we have to show it with results.
“Why do I believe that? Because we play good football, because we do a lot of things that you do when the world is coming together.
“Yes we have some things we can do better, yes because of the way we play it will happen that we will concede goals whatever line-up we play, and yes we could have defended better in this game.
“But we have a group who like to work together, and we have fantastic atmosphere at Melwood.
“Whether it is rare in modern football for a big group to all want to be successful together I don’t know, but we have got that. We felt average in the last few days but today is much better.
“I told the boys before the game that we are not the Harlem Globetrotters we are here for results. So we fought and the win should have been more clear.”
Leicester twice fought back with goals from Shinji Okazaki and Jamie Vardy, whose penalty was superbly saved.
Boss Craig Shakespeare said: “Of course we and Jamie are disappointed not to score from a penalty but he will step up to take the next one and I would back him to score it.
“We knew our first group of games included some quality opposition and now we have to regroup and concentrate our focus on getting some points.”
Leicester thought they should have had another penalty when Demarai Gray’s cross struck Emre Can on the arm.
Shakespeare said: “I’ve seen it back and I’ve looked at the position of the ref and linesman, and all I feel is that this season we have had similar decisions given against us.”
