News Updates

Jurgen Klopp inkling further signings at Liverpool before transfer window closes.

The Reds are looking to challenge Manchester City for the Premier League title this season and have backed Klopp massively in the transfer market.

Pep Guardiola's men finished 25 points ahead of the Anfield outfit last season but some key arrivals on Merseyside have fans feeling confident.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp kept fans guessing when he was asked about his plans for the final day of the transfer window.

Having completed the signings of Naby Keita, Alisson, Fabinho and Xherdan Shaqiri, Klopp was expected to be content with his summer business.

But as Thursday's deadline approaches, the German did not rule out a surprise in the coming days.

He said: "I can't kill your D-Day! People sit the whole day in front of the TV, seeing who buys and sells who. I won't watch it because I'll be working."

Klopp also admitted there are likely to be departures from Anfield with goalkeeper Simon Mignolet among those free to leave.

“If any player from my team is available, then in every other situation in my life as a manager I would have bought all of them, to be honest. They are all fantastic boys, they are able to play fantastic football," added Klopp.

“In this moment, the squad would be too big, that's true. But it's not that that means for us that we give them for free or something like that, Liverpool is strong enough to keep all these players and then we deal with that.

“We are not there to make other teams stronger, that's not our job.”

Jurgen also talks about his team chances coming into the new season. “The real positive thing is that there's still a lot of space for improvement and development - that's what we are going for. says Klopp

“We feel in a good moment. The closer it comes to the start of the season, it's less important how we feel and more important that we're ready.

“We believe in it, that's why we do it. We don't think constantly about it, we only prepare for the next challenge.

“We had a good team last year. From the team we started with, we lost Emre Can and Philippe Coutinho.

“Now Phil is, if you want, already forgotten as we played half a year without him. But in this moment last season he was in.

“Emre was a fixed line up player – physically strong, football wise strong, he played a lot of games. But it's not like you feel (deflated).

Fekir signing is still a possibility

“We've made some really good transfers. I am really happy with what we've got here.

“What we need to do is achieve the point where it all fits together.

''Bringing together all the qualities of the new players with the qualities of the established players so it really works together so then we can say: 'Now we make the next step.'

“You can't say the next step is tomorrow but hopefully it will be during this season. The next step for us would not be improving our football on the highest level, it would mean playing the same football more often.

“It's not that we say we need to improve this and that. We only need to do what we've already done on our best days much more often.”

Liverpool complete their pre-season campaign against Torino on Tuesday following a 5-0 win over Napoli on Saturday.
