Done Deal: Liverpool Complete €50m Signing Of Midfielder Fabinho.
Liverpool have officially pull off their first summer signing already following the arrival of Naby Keita.
Fresh from their Champions League disappointment at the hands of Real Madrid, the Reds have officially confirmed a deal to sign Monaco midfielder Fabinho.
Fabinho is a top-rated defensive midfielder, one widely regarded as one of the best in the world at his positions, which bodes well for LFC as the 6 has been a position that’s caused the club troubles in recent seasons due to Jordan Henderson’s struggles with injury issues.
The deal, which could be worth as much as €50m to the Ligue 1 side (guaranteed €45 plus €5m in add-ons), would see the 24-year-old come in as a replacement for the departing Emre Can in the number six role, with the German’s move to Juventus expected to be announced in the next few days.
The Brazilian international plated a huge role in Monaco’s Ligue 1 title victory in 2016, and has been linked with a move to both Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain in the last couple of seasons. Most recently, Atletic Madrid were most prominently linked with the player but now Liverpool acted quickly to get their man.
Fabinho will be part of a restructured midfield at Anfield that will also include new arrival Naby Keita, whose signing from RB Leipzig will be confirmed later this summer.
Indeed, it may not be Liverpool’s only foray into the Ligue 1 market either, with the expectation that they will step up their efforts to sign Lyon attacker Nabil Fekir this week.
