Liverpool Draw West Bromwich Albion in FA Cup Fourth Round and United and City on a sweet ride.
After dispatching local rivals Everton in the third round of the FA Cup, with new £75M signing Virgil van Dijk scoring the winning goal on his Liverpool debut, the Reds head into the fourth round of England’s premier cup competition, where they will welcome West Bromwich Albion to Anfield.
West Brom are currently struggling in the league and in the thick of a relegation battle with manager Alan Pardew under threat of the sack.
They may have gotten past Exeter City in round three, but it’s not a stretch to suggest the Baggies will have their main focus on the league and not the FA Cup.
It’s hardly the most exciting draw not a big name Premier League matchup or an interesting trip to some lower-league stadium but on paper at least it’s a draw Liverpool will be heavily favoured to win.
It’s also a game with two Premier League sides that is likely to be chosen for television.
The tie is set to be played from Friday, January 26th to Monday, January 29th. Liverpool, though, play Huddersfield in the league on Tuesday the 30th, which means a Friday or Saturday date would seem more likely as a Sunday or Monday date would mean the league match having to be pushed back.
