Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp says he wouldn't sanction a deal like Alexis Sanchez's transfer.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has insisted he would never sell a player to a rival Premier League club amid Alexis Sanchez's imminent move from Arsenal to Manchester United.

Sportsmail revealed the deal to sign Sanchez was finalised on Saturday, with Henrikh Mkhitaryan going the other way.

The transfer of the Chile international will be a huge boost to Jose Mourinho, who managed to conclude a deal right under the noses of their neighbors City.

The deal was advantageous for both parties with Mkhitaryan out of favour and Sanchez prepared to run his contract at the Emirates Stadium into the ground.

However, Klopp has comprehensively ruled out ever allowing a star to leave the club to join a rival side in the middle of the season.

'No Liverpool player of this squad would leave – and not just because we say it but because of their commitment to the club,' he said.

'No-one would leave to join any other Premier League club during the season.

'I'm not just confident of that – I know it. It is just impossible. No player who is here will say, "OK, come on, in the middle of the season I go there or there." I really cannot see that situation.'
