Gary Neville blasts ‘naive’ Liverpool FC star after 1-1 Derby draw

Gary Neville criticised Dejan Lovren for some “naive” defending after he conceded a penalty to allow Everton to snatch a 1-1 draw against Liverpool FC in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
Liverpool FC had dominated proceedings at Anfield and took the lead in the 42nd minute when Mohamed Salah continued his brilliant form by curling home a lovely left-footed effort into the top corner.
The Reds had plenty of chances to put the game to bed in the second half, but they failed to score the second goal.
And they were punished for their wastefulness when Wayne Rooney converted his penalty in style after Dominic Calvert-Lewin went down under a challenge from Lovren.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Neville said: “The penalty is soft.
“Lovren’s complaining at the end, he’s whinging at the referee but he gave the referee a chance. It’s naive from Lovren.
“It is a soft penalty. Dominic Calvert-Lewin went down easily, he played for it. But Lovren’s experienced enough to know what will happen. It’s not as if it’s his first game in football.
“I think Liverpool have only got themselves to blame.”
Liverpool FC are now in fourth place in the Premier League table as they look to try and get themselves back into the title race in the hectic festive period.
The Reds will return to top flight action on Wednesday night when they host West Bromwich Albion at Anfield.
Liverpool FC finished in fourth place in the Premier League table last season and they will discover their Champions League last 16 opponents when the draw is made on Monday.
