“I’m not surprised with his improved performance this season - Jose Mourinho
The Manchester United manager insists he is well aware of the threat Liverpool signing Mohamed Salah will post at Anfield on Saturday
Jose Mourinho has warned Manchester United about the capabilities of Liverpool signing Mohamed Salah.
The Red Devils will make the trip to Anfield in the Premier League this weekend looking to maintain their unbeaten start to the 2017-18 campaign following a run of six victories and one stalemate.
Liverpool made a brilliant start to the season thanks in part to the performance of summer signing Salah after the Egypt international scored two goals in his opening three Premier League games.
The African forward was particularly impressive in a 4-0 victory over title rivals Arsenal at Anfield to quickly adapt to the Premier League following his £39m move from AS Roma in the summer.
Salah has scored five goals and has made one assist in nine appearances in both the Champions League and the Premier League over the past couple of months.
Mourinho is no stranger to Salah having signed the attacking midfielder in a £15m deal from Swiss side Basel in the 2013 January transfer window.
The Egyptian struggled to make an impression at Stamford Bridge despite having a good record against the west London side in the Champions League with Basel.
And Manchester United boss Mourinho has warned his players that Salah will be a dangerous opponent when the Red Devils make the trip to Anfield on Saturday afternoon.
“I’m not surprised with Salah’s performance this season,” Mourinho told BeING Sports. “I was aware of his great capabilities when he was with me at Chelsea.
“He improved during his spell at Italy, became more mature and improved physically. Players need time to adapt to their new teams.
“Some of them remain and others prefer to move to another club. It is normal in football.”
