Anfield Update

LET’S ALL LAUGH AT ALEX OXLADE-CHAMBERLAIN

£40 million summer signing Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain made his Liverpool debut today in their 0-5 humiliation at Manchester City.

The England international came on at half-time in place of Mohamed Salah with the scoreline 0-2 and Sadio Mane dismissed for fracturing the cheek of City goalkeeper, Ederson, with his boot.

Oxlade-Chamberlain’s final game for Arsenal came before the international break when the Gunners were hammered 4-0 by his new club, Liverpool.

Days later the 24-year-old made a big money move to Anfield despite being in the final 12 months oh his contract in North London and rejecting all offers on the table.  He also had interest from Chelsea but announced after his signing that the Reds offered him the best chance of regular first-team football.

Today’s hammering means Oxlade-Chamberlain has been on the end of 4-0 and 5-0 thrashings in back-to-back Premier League outings.

To make things worse for the midfielder, his Premier League debut for Arsenal was the 8-2 hiding we gave to them in August 2011.

Today’s lunchtime result means Manchester City are top of the Premier League with 10 points ahead of the 3pm kickoffs and our trip to Stoke City this evening.  Liverpool have taken seven points from their first four games this season.

This was Liverpool’s heaviest defeat since Seven Gerrard’s final game; a 1-6 hammering at Stoke City in May 2014.
