COUTINHO LIKELY TO MAKE LIVERPOOL RETURN AGAINST MANCHESTER CITY

The Liverpool Echo reports that Philippe Coutinho, after having failed to secure a move to Barcelona this summer, could make his Liverpool return against Manchester City next weekend.

Now that the transfer window has come and gone, the 25-year-old has been named in the 25-man squad that Jurgen Klopp has submitted to the Premier League.

Barcelona made three big-money bids for the talented Brazilian, but each one, even the final offer of a massive £140 million, was turned down by the Reds. It is believed that they wanted around £40 million more to part with their prized asset.

This failure to secure a move to Camp Nou now leaves Coutinho in a bit of an awkward situation. The attacking-midfielder has used an injury as a reason why he has not been able to train with Liverpool for the last four weeks, but he miraculously recovered in time to be able to play 30 minutes in Brazil’s 2-0 win over Ecuador in their World Cup Qualifier.

Furthermore, it is believed that one of the main reasons Coutinho handed in a transfer request is because his relationship with Klopp has broken down over time.

Therefore, when he returns to Liverpool following the international break, Klopp will have to sit him down and work out the best way to reintegrate Coutinho back into his squad.
