The Liverpool FC legend opens up about Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's proposed £40m move to Anfield from Arsenal

Jamie Carragher says he is interested to see how Jurgen Klopp will incorporate Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain into the Liverpool team.

The Arsenal midfielder is set to move to Liverpool in a £40m deal pending a medical and become Klopp’s fourth signing of the summer transfer window.

Oxlade-Chamberlain was thought to be on the brink of a move to Premier League champions Chelsea on Tuesday.

However, the 24-year-old turned down the chance to move to the west London side in favour of a transfer to Liverpool.

Oxlade-Chamberlain is expected to sign a £120,000 a week contract at Liverpool which would make the midfielder one of the highest earners at Anfield.

According to reports, the England international rejected a £180,000-a-week deal with Arsenal earlier this month after entering the final 12 months of his contract with the north London side.

Liverpool were 4-0 winners against Arsenal in their last Premier League game as Emre Can, Jordan Henderson and Georginio Wijnaldum excelled in the middle of the park.

Oxlade-Chamberlain is thought to be keen to play in a central role in midfield after being used in an unorthodox wing-back position under Arsene Wenger in recent months.

Liverpool legend Carragher ousted himself as a big admirer of Oxlade-Chamberlain but questioned where the England international would slot into the Liverpool midfield.

Carragher wrote on Twitter: “Tried to persuade AOC to join @LFC when he was a kid, obviously Klopp is more persuasive! Interested how he gets him into CM after Sunday!!”
