"I am happy to be back'' - Liverpool striker Divock Origi insists he's 'more mature' as he returns to training.

Divock Origi says his loan spell at Wolfsburg has made him "more mature" as he returns to Liverpool for pre-season training.

The 23-year-old spent the 2017/18 season with the Bundesliga side, scoring seven goals in 36 games as Wolfsburg narrowly avoided relegation.

Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com, Origi insisted that a tough campaign in Germany has only made him stronger and vowed to do his talking on the pitch.

"I am happy to be back. It feels a bit like I am familiar with everything and I never left, so it was easier for me to integrate back into the group",

"It was a learning season for me. As a team, we had a difficult season, but we fought until the end and managed to stay in the league.

"It was a bit of a change of scenario; I learned a lot mentally and grew a lot. I think I've come back more mature.

"I am very excited for the new season. I just have to keep my focus on enjoying myself on the pitch and giving everything.

"The next few weeks will show. The feet do the talking on the pitch, so we will see how it goes. I am positive."

Liverpool finished in the top four of the Premier League last season and reached the final of the Champions League, and Origi says he can see the club has progressed during his time away.

He said: "Every year since I have been here, we have progressed so much. Even now, I have come back and can see we've progressed even more.

"It was a great season with a difficult end, but it will make us stronger. We've always come back from setbacks, so I am very excited to see what is going to happen in this new season."

For the moment, Origi is focused on building his fitness and ‘getting into his flow’ as he hopes for an upturn in his output.

“My focus is just on playing on my game,” he stressed. “When you get into your flow, the goals will follow. It’s about getting fit, getting back into my rhythm as soon as I can and then hopefully scoring as many goals as possible.

“I want to help the team as much as I can. That’s the objective for the whole group and we’ll see how that goes.”
