Liverpool injury blow as Nathaniel Clyne is ruled out for another Three months
Clyne has not played a minute of football for Liverpool this season due to injury problems and is facing more time on the sideline. Nathaniel Clyne has been ruled out of Liverpool action for another three months after surgery.
England international full-back Clyne injured his back during the summer and has not played a minute of football this season. He underwent surgery on Monday and it has since been confirmed that he will not return to action until at least February.
Clyne suffered a setback in his attempts to return from the injury earlier this month and the club decided to send him to a specialist for treatment.
Manager Jurgen Klopp initially described Clyne's injury as minor when he first encountered the problem during pre-season. Klopp said a fortnight ago that Clyne needed to rest in order to help repair the "weak" park of his body.
Clyne was not included in the Reds' squad for the Champions League group stages and it remains to be seen if he will be reinstated upon his return to the squad next year.
Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joe Gomez have been deputizing in the right-back position and have impressed.
Liverpool's stars returned to training on Monday after those who were not selected for international duty were allowed a week off.
Other members of the squad will return in the coming days, for formal preparation of their home match against Southampton on Saturday.
