The England international is yet to feature for the Reds this season after suffering a thigh injury during the summer.

But according to The Telegraph, he could be back playing sooner rather than later as he is set to step up his recovery in the practice match.

Boss Jurgen Klopp has organised a friendly that will feature both senior and youth players, including those that aren’t away on international duty such as James Milner and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Lallana sustained the injury during Liverpool’s Audi Cup campaign in Munich during pre-season.

Klopp will be keen to have him back in contention, with a hectic run of fixtures approaching after the break.

The Reds face five matches in the space of 14 days, including a Champions League trip to Sevilla and a tough test at home to Antonio Conte’s Chelsea.

Following a blip in form that culminated in a 4-1 defeat at Tottenham, Liverpool have won three games on the bounce.

They’re currently fifth in the Premier League, 12 points behind leaders Manchester City.

Lallana could be in line to face his old side Southampton at Anfield next weekend.
