Liverpool agree deal to sign Schalke star Leon Goretzka in January - report
Goretzka has netted four goals in nine appearances for Schalke this time out.
The midfielder has been linked with a move to the Premier League in recent months, with Arsenal and Tottenham said to be keen.
However, according to Spanish transfer outlet Don Balon, Goretzka is heading to Liverpool. They even claim the Reds have a January agreement to sign the midfielder.
Don Balon say Goretzka has snubbed Barcelona to head to Anfield. The La Liga giants were desperate to sign Goretzka but the German wasn't happy with Barca's salary offer.
“Liverpool have an agreement to sign Schalke star Leon Goretzka in January”. Don Balon add that Goretzka's arrival could see Philippe Coutinho finally head to the Nou Camp in January.
Barca made three bids for the Brazil international in the summer but the Reds held firm and kept hold of their key man.
The playmaker handed in a transfer request in hope of securing his dream move to the Nou Camp but a deal didn't materialise. Liverpool are expected to demand around £130m for Coutinho should he leave in January.
The signing of Goretzka could also lead to exit of Emre Can, since his refusal to sign new contract with Liverpool.
