Liverpool Wijnaldum deliver verdict on Sevilla Draw

Speaking to the club’s official website after the draw with Sevilla last night, Gini Wijnaldum revealed his take on the result.

The Reds stormed into a 3-0 lead and went in at half-time looking as though they’d be in the knockout stages come the end of the game.

However, Sevilla came out a completely transformed side in the second half and we duly ended up drawing with them 3-3 as the equaliser came in injury time.

It really was a sucker punch after being so far in front at the break but that is the way football goes and we’ll have to try and pick ourselves up for the game against Chelsea this weekend.

Wijnaldum, meanwhile, had this to say on the result:

“It’s difficult, If you think about the game I don’t think it is a bad result but the way we give it away at 3-0 with a 3-3 draw at the end is not a good sign. It’s painful if you look at the game but we have to go again.

“We have to speak to each other, lift each other and help each other to leave this behind and help each other.

“On paper it is a good result but if you look back at the game I don’t think it is a good sign to give 3-0 away.

“The good thing about it is we still have it in our own hands and we have to win against Spartak Moscow to go to the next round.”

  1. Liverpool still work to do to be that unbeatable team. Their lapses are still there. They need to work hard to be able to compete for this season's trophy.
