“I pray he heals fast” – Sadio Mane apologises for red-card collision with Man City keeper Ederson

Liverpool forward Sadio Mane has offered his apologies to Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson following their clash at the Etihad Stadium this afternoon.
On a day where the Reds’ unbeaten start to the season came to an abrupt end at the hands of a ruthless City side, the game swung in favour of the hosts on a rather controversial sending off in the first-half.
Mane, who had scored in three successive league games prior to the game, was given his marching orders in the 37th minute as he caught Ederson in the face with the high boot as the pair contested for the ball.
The incident left the Brazilian keeper requiring lengthy treatment before being substituted and Mane has taken to social media and sent the City stopper a message.
“I hope and wish Ederson a quick recovery,” Mane posted on his official Facebook page.
“I am so sorry he was hurt during our accidental collision on the pitch and am sorry for him that he could not complete the match because of it.
“I pray he heals fast and is back playing very soon!”
Mane’s departure – at 1-0 down – left the visitors with a huge mountain to climb as they conceded four more goals to be on the wrong side of a 5-0 defeat.
Thankfully Ederson avoided serious injury, although Citizens boss Pep Guardiola did reveal that the 24-year-old could miss next week’s Champions League game against Feyenoord – meaning Claudio Bravo could deputise again.
