Sturridge told he can leave Liverpool on loan in January
Daniel Sturridge has reportedly been told he is free to leave Liverpool on loan in January after talks between Jurgen Klopp and the player’s agent.
The striker has been used sparingly by Reds boss Klopp this season and is well down the Anfield pecking order. Sturridge still hopes to play some part in England’s World Cup squad next summer, but has been told he needs to be playing regularly in order to make the plane to Russia.
And with the likes of Real Betis and Valencia considering moves for the former Chelsea man, Klopp has told Sturridge he won’t stand in his way if he wants to leave in January.
According to The Sun on Sunday, Klopp believes Liverpool can manage without the services of Sturridge and believed his £125,000 a week wages are too draining on the club’s finances for simply sitting on the bench
Liverpool rate the striker at around the £20million mark, but his injury record is likely to put off potential suitors. Therefore, the paper reckons Liverpool will allow Sturridge to leave on loan if a team is willing to cover his wages in full – with the move aimed at putting the player in the shop window and back on track for a place in England’s World Cup squad.
